In 2001, I convinced Scholastic to do the Playhouse story. Here is a pencil drawing by Michael Martchenko. It puts all the pictures you have looked at into his idea for the first page of the book.
This is the first version of the first page of the book and it might still change a lot. It is now May, 2001 and the book will not come out until March 2002.
Anyway, that is how Rene got to be in a book. Of the 10,000 letters I got from kids in 1996, hers is the one that led to a book!
