I wrote this book when I visited Washington Hunt Elementary School in December, 2005, when they were in the middle of the first big snow of the year. Jasmine was in the kindergarten class there. The Lockport Hospital was right next to the school, and in the first version of the story, Jasmine went to the hospital to be thawed out. When the story was made into a book, the school caretaker took Jasmine to the school nurse’s office instead.
